Pomona Capital is Founded

Founded by Michael Granoff and Fran Janis, Pomona Capital was one of the earliest private equity firms focused on secondaries.

Pomona closes its first flagship secondary fund, Pomona Capital I, with $42 million in capital commitments.

1998

London Office Opens

Pomona Capital opens its London office, expanding the Firm’s reach into Europe.

Pomona makes its first primary fund investment, establishing the platform’s synergies between its primary and secondaries strategies.

2000

Strategic Partnership with Voya

Pomona forms a strategic partnership with the insurance and asset management company, Voya Financial, Inc.  (NYSE:VOYA), formerly known as ING Investment Management, to provide global reach and capital.

2001

$1 Billion in Capital Commitments

Pomona reaches $1 billion in total Firm capital commitments upon closing its fifth flagship secondaries fund, Pomona Capital V.

2004

Pomona’s 10 Year Anniversary

Celebrating 10 years and over $2 billion in total Firm capital commitments.

2007

Hong Kong Office Opens

Pomona opens its Hong Kong office, marking its expansion and presence in Asia.

Closed Pomona Capital VII ($1.3 billion), Pomona’s first flagship secondary fund with more than $1 billion in capital commitments.

2008

$5 Billion in Capital Commitments

2012

Largest Secondary Transaction

Pomona completes its largest secondary transaction to date, a proprietary negotiated transaction valued at ~$750 million.

2014

Pomona’s 20th Anniversary

Celebrating over 20 years and over $8 billion in total Firm committed capital.

The Firm closes its eighth flagship secondaries fund, Pomona Capital VIII, with commitments of ~$1.75 billion.

2015

Launch of the Pomona Investment Fund

Pomona launches Pomona Investment Fund, a first-of-its-kind diversified registered investment vehicle focused on secondaries and designed to give individual investors access to private equity investing.

2018

$10 Billion in Capital Commitments

The Firm closes its ninth flagship secondary fund, Pomona Capital IX, with $1.8 billion in capital commitments.

2019

Pomona’s 25th Anniversary

Celebrating its 25th anniversary and approximately $12 billion in total Firm capital commitments.

2019

Recognized for Innovative, First European Preferred Equity Transaction by RealDeals

Pomona extended a first ever structured preferred tranche solution to a highly regarded European private equity manager, signaling Pomona’s position as a leader in innovative investment solutions*.
